The math
Cost = watts ÷ 1,000 × hours × your state's price per kWh. The single biggest mistake in most "cost to run" answers online is using the national average rate. In Hawaii or California an appliance costs roughly three times what it costs in Washington or Nebraska, so we always price at your state's current EIA residential rate.
